MATT WHITBY

Caanan White  began his professional Comic Art career in 2006, when he was published by the Indie Graphic Novel Publisher, Dabel Brothers, and Marvel Comics.   Starting in 2004, anxious yet serious about getting into the industry, he joined the online art community Deviantart, where he began posting various pieces of his work.  After seeing his potential, Dabel Brothers shared the critiques needed to propelled him into the position to illustrate one of their properties titled "Ptolus"(a graphic novel based on the popular board RPG, written by Monte Cook(Dungions & Dragons board game developer) in 2006.  After leaving Dabel Brothers due to company issues, Caanan continued to illustrate, as well as work a day job in Graphic design.  In 2008,  he decided to enter into Freelance and began submitting his work to various small press publishers; one of which was one of the most notable Indie publishers, Avatar Press.  Pleased with what they saw, Avatar Press CEO, William Christensen, hired him to work on two war titles.  With a blend of realism and detail, his work was the perfect fit.  In 2009, Caanan began work on his first project titled  "Uber" - a historically fictionalized image of the events of World War II Written by Marvel's Comic superstar Kieron Gillian (credits include the pop-culture hit "PHONOGRAM", "Iron Man", "Thor-Journey In To Mystery " and massively popular "Young Avengers"), Uber tells the story of what would have happened if Hitler succeeded in creating human weapons. Destruction and chaos ensue as allied forces try to counter this seemingly unstoppable force. At the same time as "Uber", Caanan began work on the 2nd title from Avatar Press titled "The Harlem Hellfighters", written by New York Best selling author Max Brooks (author of the hit titles "World War Z", "Zombie Guid to Survival"and recently the fan favorite "Extinction parade"-also published through Avatar Press ).  Taking place during World War I, Harlem Hellfighters tells the story of the 369th regiment and their acts of bravery and heroism that helped turn the tide of the war and reshaped the opinions of 1000's of Americans concerning the black soldier as a solider and as a human being.

Due to the overlapping schedules, Uber was put on pause in favor of Harlem Hellfighters, which was finally completed in mid 2011.  That same year, Caanan resumed work on Uber and in 2013 it took the comic world by storm with it's first issue selling out before it's release. Uber has completely redefined the meaning of the word "hero"! With an ever growing fan base, the release of Uber, and the rerelease of Harlem Hellfighters, Caanan White has established himself as of the premier up and coming artists in the industry today. And he shows no signs of stopping!
